As a judge, Brian was "most preferred" at the TOC, St. Mark's, and Golden Desert. As a coach, he has had a team in the finals of the TOC, and the college Kentucky Round Robin, and late elims of the NDT. He has taught at the Michigan, Gonzaga, North Texas, Baylor, UMKC, and Vermont summer workshops.

Won the Acolyte Award (2008). Attended the NDT 3 times, earning a first round bid each time and reaching the semi-finals twice and the quarter-finals once. Coached NDT top speaker, first round teams, TOC finalist, and Baker Award winner. Voted top 10 debater and top 5 judge of the decade.
